
Mariano Cirone
Mariano has almost 10 years of experience working on climate change and sustainability, especially in REDD+ and climate finance. He has worked as an external consultant for international organizations such as UN agencies and the World Bank, NGOs and national and subnational governments, for projects in several Latin American countries.
His main areas of expertise are the analysis and design of environmental legal and institutional frameworks; the design of financial mechanisms; carbon rights studies; environmental and social risks management and safeguards frameworks (SESA and MGAS processes); and multi-stakeholder participatory processes with a gender approach and the involvement of indigenous peoples and local communities.
Mariano is a lawyer (National University of La Plata, Argentina) and a Master’s in Environmental Law (Rovira i Virgili University, Spain). He also has specializations in carbon markets in Latin America (International Carbon Action Partnership) and comprehensive disaster risk management (UNITAR-UN).
