The provision of information to the UNFCCC on how safeguards are addressed and respected is a condition for countries to receive results based payments under REDD+. The respective documents are officially called “Summaries of Information” (SoIs).

Although they may not yet have entered the implementation or results-based payments phases of REDD+, several countries have decided to use the opportunity of having their Safeguards Information Systems (SIS) completed to submit a first SoI as a means to show their level or preparation and report on how safeguards were considered during their readiness phase. In the same way, the Government of Suriname is planning to submit a first SOI during the first half of 2020.

AAE has worked with the Government of Suriname to produce their first Summary of Information for submission to the UNFCCC.

Main tasks

  • Coordinate with NIMOS and the Programme Management Unit of REDD+ in Suriname to include all relevant information in the SoI;
  • Produce the first draft of the SoI document;
  • Internalize comments received to the first draft into a final draft of the SoI.

Main outputs

  • Summary of Information.
