AAE developed a widely participatory local Area Management Plan for two protected areas in Grenada and Carriacou using updated spatial data to generate GIS.
Main tasks
- Undertake mapping of biophysical conditions, and determine natural resource availability, consumption rates and user groups; as well as an economic valuation of the ecosystem services around Grand Anse Bay, Grenada and Bay a L’eau, Windward, Carriacou;
- Undertake analysis of stakeholder needs regarding the use of the natural resource, as well as any existing governance structures determining resource use;
- Develop a GIS database and spatial maps;
- Develop a draft Local Area Management Plan;
- Obtain broader stakeholder feedback on the Local Area Management Plan using national and local media as well as consultative workshops;
- Finalize and present for government adoption a local area management plan.
Main outputs
- Collected and analysed available spatial and other data for the pilot sites with the view of identifying the natural, economic and social assets contained therein;
- Prepared a series of GIS based spatial maps for the two Pilot Sites;
- Developed local area management plan for Grand Anse Bay, Grenada and Bay a L’eau, Windward, Carriacou Pilot Sites.

- AAE´s team included GIS and Remote Sensing experts, anthropologists with expertise in management plans and geographers.
