Gender mainstreaming in the project cycle adds value by reducing risks and closing gender gaps, and also by increasing effectiveness and efficiency in climate change and environmental initiatives. We have strong experience integrating gender analysis and perspectives project cycles and proposals, and our track record includes more than 20 related assignments. In many cases this has been under the context of key requirements for development banks, climate finance institutions and international NGOs by preparing Gender Assessments, Analysis and Action Plans.
Through our gender department we help our clients identify existing gender bias in project planning and implementation as well as to understand and respond to the potentially unequal consequences of environmental and climate change on women and men, children, youth and the elderly.
Our gender specific portfolio in LAC and Africa includes projects related to gender equality and social inclusion as well as projects related to disaster risk reduction and behavioural change. We also apply a cross-cutting gender perspective across our range of services and through all our projects and initiatives. In the past 2 years we have produced more than 40 Gender Analysis and Gender Action Plans, conducted 28 gender specific workshops and training in gender mainstreaming, and we have designed gender-sensitive and gender-transformative strategies and ad hoc indicators. We have also mainstreamed gender into National strategies (e.g. REDD+) or ESMF, supported institutions in designing their Gender Policies and in seeking accreditation to the GCF.
